The Maryland Horse Trials, LLC is hosting
an Intro to Eventing Clinic
Sept. 27, 2008
Clinicians: Eventer & Trainer - Joyce D’Aquilar and Dressage trainer – Peggy Pariso
The clinic is open to all disciplines (riders not to have completed in more than one recognized event.) Come spend the day experiencing the basics of eventing! (*each group will be tailored to riding ability and goals*)
- Session 1: Gridwork – learn the basics of gymnastics and work on position.
- Session 2: Cross Country – learn to trot and canter up and down hills, jump solid objects and ride more independently.
- Session 3: Dressage – learn the basics of the dressage “test” and how to get your horse on the bit and moving off of your leg.
Each session: $50 (can do one, two or all three) plus Venue/insurance fee: $20. If you do all three sessions - save $20 – will be $150.00. Make a weekend of it, then add the SHORT COURSE EVENT on Sunday, September 28th for $75.
On site overnight accommodations available, please call 301-514-0111
Join us for a trail ride after the clinic!
Cross Country Safety Vest is required, and times will be strictly followed.
Short Course Eventing
Short Course Eventing/Event Derby compliments the sport of Horse Trials. It is a variation of the Combined Test concept by including Stadium Jumps in the Cross Country Course. Riders begin with a Dressage Test, followed by the combined jumping course. Jumping begins with Stadium fences on our grass Cross Country Course, then without stopping, continues out over solid cross country jumps, and back to finish over more Stadium fences.
The Maryland Horse Trials Short Course offers four levels of competition each increasing in distance and difficulty: Elementary (for Riders or Horse new to the sport of Eventing this year), Beginner Novice, Novice and Training Levels.
