Travel Grant Application

The International Riders Travel Grant Program helps bring the world’s best horses and riders to Maryland to compete in the MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill presented by Brown Advisory — one of only seven CCI5*-L events in the world.

By supporting elite international athletes, this program strengthens the Maryland Horse Industry and nurtures the equestrian community across all levels throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Fundraising for the 2026 International Riders Travel Grant is now underway, with a goal of helping both U.S. and foreign athletes compete at the Maryland 5*. This gives American riders the opportunity to test their skills against the best in the world — without having to leave North America — a huge advantage for U.S. high-performance programs and the sport of eventing overall.

Funds are awarded by application only and are used to directly offset travel expenses. Applications are reviewed and allocations made no later than 30 days before the event.

Donors to the program enjoy exclusive opportunities, such as course walks and educational experiences with grant recipients (schedule permitting). Grant recipients, in turn, are asked to help promote the Maryland equestrian industry and related events.
