MIEF was established to promote, preserve, and support equestrian sport in Maryland—from grassroots programs to upper-level FEI competition. It also provides funding to help dedicated riders from diverse backgrounds reach the top levels of the sport.
What an incredible week at the MARS Maryland 5*! The Maryland International Equestrian Foundation (MIEF) extends heartfelt congratulations to Felix Vogg (SUI) — the 2025 MARS Maryland 5* Champion — who made history with his second 5* win, setting both a personal and Swiss record!
Thanks to support from MIEF’s International Riders Travel Grant Program, Felix and four other international riders — Alex Bragg (UK), Sophia Hill (AU), Tayla Mason (NZL), and Jonelle Price (NZL) — brought world-class talent and energy to the MD 5* at Fair Hill. Hill, Mason, and Price all finished in the Top 10!
Both Jonelle Price and Alex Bragg shared with MIEF President Carolyn Mackintosh that the travel grant played a key role in their decision to come to Maryland — a powerful reminder of the impact this program has on attracting global talent.
MIEF extends our warmest congratulations and appreciation to all the competitors, organizers, and volunteers who made this year’s MARS Maryland 5* such a spectacular success.
A huge thank you to our generous donors — your support makes this international competition, 1 of 7 in the world, possible and helps strengthen Maryland’s horse industry, one stride at a time.
2025 Grant Donors enjoyed a private course walk with grant recipient Alex Bragg (UK) and 2023 MD 5* winner Austin O’Connor (Ire).
MIEF has established three scholarship programs to assist equestrians in achieving the riding and competition goals.
To date MIEF has awarded eight FEI Rider Scholarships, eight MIEF Junior Rider Scholarships, and one MIEF Adult Rider Scholarship.
Through the support of MIEF, the Maryland Horse Industry Board, and Millstreet Equestrian Centre in Ireland, top placing Young Riders from the US and Ireland participated in an international rider exchange.
This program allowed a top placing Young Rider to compete in an eventing competition at Millstreet Equestrian Centre in County Cork, Ireland, and a top placing Irish Young Rider to come to Maryland to compete at the Maryland International CCI 4* and Horse Trials at Loch Moy Farm.
This was a terrific opportunity to allow these up-and-coming equestrians to experience international competition.
Through competitions at Loch Moy Farm, MIEF and the Maryland Horse Trials supports local youth programs and charitable organizations such as scout troops, pony clubs, animal rescue groups, Great & Small Therapeutic Riding, Gallop for Life, Carroll Manor Fire Company.
MIEF partners with local organizations, businesses to provide educational seminars and mounted and unmounted clinics.
The Loch Moy Farm team brings years of experience to organizing and running horse events. With your support, we can continue to run FEI events and ensure that eventing is accessible to riders.
We are committed to ensuring the continued viability of horse sports at Loch Moy Farm. MIEF’s mission is dedicated to supporting equestrian sport from grass roots to FEI level at Loch Moy Farm and committed to providing funding for the development of dedicated riders from diverse backgrounds to compete at the top levels of our sport.
